Shiseido announces management reshuffle

THE WHAT? Shiseido has announced a series of partial organizational reforms and personnel changes, all effective January 1, 2023.

THE DETAILS The J-beauty behemoth has set up a Safety & Analytics Research Center and R&D Sustainability & Communication Department, at the same time dissolving the R&D Integrated Operations Department.

Meanwhile, in lieu of the JAPAN Industrial Planning Department and the Global Brands Operation Department, which will both be dissolved, Shiseido is establishing a Global Planning Department and HQ Supply Chain Department.

Last, the Marketing Department, Commercial Excellence Department and the Communication Excellence Department is being replaced with the Marketing & Communication Development Department and the newly established Brand Strategy & Business Development Department.

Accordingly, a number of job title changes have been announced, as well as the new hire of Tomoko Tagami as Chief Corporate Communication Officer and Vice President, Global Communications Department.

THE WHY? The reorganization is designed to achieve multiple goals, including furthering the strategic development of the global Shiseido brand, strengthening communication plans, supply chain, assurance and analysis functions.
