THE WHAT? Oprah Winfrey has invested an undisclosed sum into Dr Barbara Sturm’s skin care brand, according to a report published by WWD.
THE DETAILS The privately-held firm is circumspect about its investors but said that Winfrey’s investment was ‘a big honor and testament to the brand’. It will also bring the label’s Darker Skin Tones and Molecular Cosmetics lines to a wider audience, the spokesperson told WWD. Winfrey revealed that it is her first investment of its kind.
THE WHY? Winfrey said during a O Daily session in New York, per WWD, “Dr Sturm has a revolutionary skin care line that has blossomed into a global empire, and it was Stella McCartney actually – she is such a sweet friend – she sent me some of the products and… I then called up Dr Barbara Sturm and said ‘I want to invest in your company’.”
