THE WHAT? Merck is revisiting a plan to sell its pigments unit, shelved as a result of the pandemic, according to a report published by Reuters.
THE DETAILS The Surface Solutions division, to give it its proper name, is expected to fetch a value of €1 billion and interested parties were invited to submit non-binding bids, with a deadline set for April 12, Reuters reveals.
THE WHY? Merck declined to comment on the potential sale when contacted by Reuters but potential buyers are said to be lining up – no doubt prompted by a revival in the fortunes of the colour cosmetics category now Covid-related restrictions have been lifted.
