THE WHAT? Our Own Candle Company has filed a class action lawsuit against four major fragrance manufacturers, according to a report published by Top Class Actions, accusing the ingredients suppliers of violating anti-trust laws.
THE DETAILS The New York-based candle brand alleges that Givaudan, Symrise, Firmenich and IFF conspired to raise and fix prices of fragrance products.
THE WHY? The company claims that prices continued to rise even after raw material costs eased, prompting authorities to investigate. Our Own Candle Co is seeking damages, fees, costs and a jury trial as well as an order to force the four firms to stop fixing prices.
