THE WHAT? The Czech equivalent of the FDA is proposing a ban on CBD-based products and other hemp-derived cannabinoids, according to a report published by Hemp Today.
THE DETAILS No schedule has been given for the new rules to be enacted. The Ministry acknowledged that any ban would adversely affect some food and cosmetics manufacturers and retailers.
THE WHY? The food safety authority said that as CBD has been designated a ‘novel food’ by regulatory bodies in the European Union but is yet to undergo safety checks, it was therefore impossible to confirm that it was safe to use.
